Biogeographic distribution

The current known centre of diversity of Sphaeromatidea is the temperate Southern hemisphere (Brandt & Poore, 2003). The following map displays occurrence records for the genus Cymodoce. Actual occurrence is greater than presented due to unavailable or missing records, however, the map highlights the prevalence across temperature thresholds of the genus.

Above: Global occurrence records for the isopod genus Cymodoce. Map modified from OBIS (2012).
